Automotive Technology
The class is designed to introduce students to shop operations, customer relations, flat rate manuals, safety, organizational design, pay structure, equipment, tools, and basic operational theories. Topics include the proper use of hand tools, measuring instruments, equipment; service procedures for lubrication, batteries, the cooling system, wheels and tires. Students will take the ASE Automobile Service Technology exam at the end of the course.
Classes will be held at Covington High on Monday through Thursday, June 5 – June 29 from 1:00 PM to 5:15 PM. Students will earn half a Carnegie credit and dual-enrollment credit through Northshore Technical Community College.
The course is limited to 15 students. In the event that more than 15 students are interested, recently graduated seniors and rising seniors will be given priority seating. A lottery would be conducted for remaining seats, per federal guidelines.
