Policy Statement
It is the policy of Mandeville High School not to discriminate in its educational programs or activities on the basis of sex, race, color, religion or national origin.

Community 
Mandeville High School, one of eight public high schools in St. Tammany Parish, is located in Mandeville, Louisiana. Mandeville is a suburban community within thirty miles commuting distance to the metropolitan area of New Orleans, LA. The school enrollment is approximately 1,600 students in grades 9-12. There are more than one hundred members on the professional staff.

College Bound Graduates
Approximately 89% of our graduates continue their education. Of this number, approximately 85% attend four-year colleges or universities and 4% attend two-year colleges or other post-secondary institutions.

Honor Course Offerings
All levels of English, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Physical Science, Anatomy and Physiology, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, American History, Civics, Free Enterprise, World History, and World Geography.
Advanced Placement Course Offerings
Calculus AB, Calculus BC, English Literature, English Language, American Government, American History, Chemistry II, Physics, Biology II, Art History, Statistics, Human Geography, Spanish Language, and European History.
Gifted Program Offerings
Students who meet the evaluation standards may be enrolled in our Gifted Program. Civics, English I,II,III,IV, Physical Science, Free Enterprise, World Geography, Algebra I and II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Biology, and Chemistry.

 

Talented Program Offerings
Art, Music and Theater are available to those students who qualify.
Grading Scale
Grades are distributed each nine weeks with one-half Carnegie credit earned at the end of each semester (18 weeks). Semester grades represent the average of the two nine (9) weeks.

Grade Point Average and Class Rank

Mandeville High School's grade point average is based on a 4.0 grading scale with weighted grades for honors, Advanced Placement and gifted courses in English and mathematics beginning with the 2003-2004 school year. Weighted grades for honors, Advanced Placement, and gifted courses in science are social studies begin with the 2005-2006 school year. All courses attempted are used in determining the GPA. Seniors earning a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above are designated as honor graduates.

Class Periods

The length of each class period with our modular schedule varies between fifty (50) minutes and sixty five (65) minutes.

New Student Registration Requirements

The following items are required for student registration:

• State Certified Birth Certificate

• Proof of Residency
Documentation may consist of a current utility bill (such as, butane, electric, gas, water, cable, or satellite communication bill), the current year W-2 form, the most recent federal or state income tax returns, a state ID card, a vehicle insurance print-out from the parent’s or guardian’s insurance company, a signed residential building contractor agreement, a signed real estate lease agreement, or signed mortgage loan documentation. All documents must show the name of the parent or guardian, the utility service address (if using utility bills), and the street or road address of residence. Lease agreements must show street or road location and must be from a real estate office, apartment complex, or mobile home property, not from an individual.

• Social Security Card

• Health Record of Required Immunization

• Report Card/Records from Last School / LEAP 21 Results (for in-state transfer)

• Assignment Letter (if applicable)
Students who are transferring within the parish (other than those being promoted to a higher grade from feeder schools) and students who are entering the School System from home schooling must obtain assignment letters from one of the System Child Welfare and Attendance Offices before being registered at schools.

Grade 10 5-9.5 units of credit
Grade 11 10-15.5 units of credit
Grade 12 16-23 units of credit

Minimum Requirements for High School Graduation (Classes of 2010 and 2011)

English: I, II, III, IV

Mathematics: Shall be : Algebra 1-part 1 and Algebra I Part II (2 units), or Algebra I (1 unit), and the remaining unit(s) may come from: Geometry, Algebra II, Financial Mathematics, Pre-Calculus, Probability and Statistics, or Calculus

Science: Biology and two full units from the following: Physical Science, Environmental Science, Biology II, Chemistry, Physics

Social Studies: American History, Civics or American Government AP (.5), Free Enterprise (.5), and one full unit of either World History, European History AP or World Geography.

Health Education: (.5)
Physical Education: (1.5) - ROTC may be substituted

Electives: 8 Credits

Total Required: 15 Credits
Total Electives:  8 Credits
Total:  23 Credits

Must also pass the GEE Exam

Louisiana Core Curriculum

English: I, II, III, IV

Mathematics: Shall be : Algebra I Part II or Algebra I, Geometry, and the remaining two units may come from: Algebra II, Financial Mathematics, Pre-Calculus, Probability and Statistics, Calculus, or Senior Applications in Math

Science: Biology and two full units from the following: Physical Science, Environmental Science, Biology II, Chemistry, Physics, Anatomy and Physiology

Social Studies: American History, Civics or American Government AP (.5), Free Enterprise (.5), and one full unit of either World History, European History AP or World Geography.

Health Education: (.5)
Physical Education: (1.5) - ROTC may be substituted

Electives: 8 Credits

Total Required: 16 Credits
Total Electives:  8 Credits
Total:  24 Credits
