New College Requirements
Class of 2008 and subsequent classes
-
All four-year public universities - Completion of Regents' of High School Core Curriculum
-
In order to meet the new admission requirements to be eligible to attend a four-year Louisiana university, this year’s graduating seniors must have a fourth upper level math or science course. If you are unsure if your senior student has met this requirement, please contact the Mandeville High School guidance department.
Why Do I Need To Take The High School Core Curriculum?
The Core Curriculum is the most important component of the Regents' admissions framework. Research shows that students who take college prep courses double their odds of success in college.

School to Work
The School-to-Work Opportunities Act of 1994 is an exciting initiative for educators and students. As part of this program, partnerships will flourish among secondary and post secondary education. Employers, community groups, parents, teachers, and students will work together to better prepare students for their future careers.
The Career Options Law (Act 1124) mandates that beginning with the 1999-2000 freshman class, students will be required to complete a five year plan of their course of study. This includes four years of high school and one year of post secondary work. In order to facili-tate this law, many changes are taking place at the high school level to help students better prepare for their future.
Students will choose a career path from one of the following areas:
Engineering and Technology
Health and Human Services
Arts and Humanities
Business and Marketing
Under each broad career path there are many pathways to choose from. With the help of the homeroom teacher (Teacher as Educational Advisor and Mentor), each student will be able to choose a pathway and complete those requirements prior to graduation.
Mandeville High School is excited to be part of this new initiative. Our goal is to provide a relevant and rigorous curriculum that allows choices and options for our students.
